Tuesday 2 September 2025Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a woman died after an incident on Hillcrest Drive, Bradford on Friday (29 August.)  Donna Smith aged 48 was taken to hospital but died from her injuries yesterday.  Kiel Sanderson, 39 of Calderstone avenue was charged with a number of offences in relation to this incident and appeared at Bradford Magistrates Court yesterday.  He’ll next appear at Bradford Crown Court on 30 September. Monday 1 September, 2025A male and teenage girl will appear before magistrates this week after being charged with offending following last summer’s disorder in Harehills.  Lewis McArdle- Rose, aged 20, of North Parkway, Leeds, who defines as white British, will appear before the morning session of Leeds Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 2 September charged with offences of violent disorder and arson.  Find out more:

Monday, 1 September 2025 Detectives investigating the death of a man in Leeds have charged a man with murder.  Eljon Markaj, aged 31, of no fixed address, has been remanded in custody to appear before Leeds Magistrates’ Court today (Monday).Markaj has also been charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.  The charges relate to the death of Elsiado Marku, 26, who was pronounced dead at the scene of an incident in Cardigan Road, Headingley on Friday, 29 August.    Find out more:

Saturday, 30 August, 2025A man is due to appear in court charged with the rape of woman in Leeds in 2021.Rashid Kwabena Boachie, aged 43, of Ashby Terrace, Leeds, has been charged in connection with the rape of a woman in Middleton Grove, Leeds, on 29 August 2021.  Earlier this month, Boachie was charged with a sexual assault alleged to have taken place in Blayds Yard, Leeds, during the early hours of Sunday 10 August.   Find out more:

Friday 29th August 2025A proactive policing operation on the road network in Leeds over the bank holiday weekend has seen nine people arrested for offences relating to violence against women and girls.  Under Operation Topaz, officers from our Roads Policing Unit (RPU) used specialist tactics to proactively locate and arrest suspects wanted for a range of VAWG offences.  The operation took place from Thursday 21st August – Monday 25th August, with a breakdown of results below:   Find out more:

Friday, 29 August, 2025Three men who were involved in importing millions of canisters of nitrous oxide illegally through a string of fake catering companies have been jailed.  Over 91 million canisters, also known as laughing gas, were brought into the country by the group between May 2016 and December 2018 despite them knowing that a new law had been introduced making it illegal to import if likely to be used as a psychoactive substance.   Find out more:

Wednesday, 27 August, 2025A West Yorkshire Police Officer has appeared in court charged with sexual assault.  PC Mark Ostiadel, aged 43, who is based in Operational Support is charged with two counts of assaulting a girl under the age of 13 by touching and two counts of sexual assault on a female.  He appeared before magistrates in Doncaster yesterday where he was bailed to appear before Sheffield Crown Court on 23 September.  He is currently suspended from duty.  Find out more:

Wednesday 27th August 2025A burglar who targeted a care home housing elderly and vulnerable people in Leeds has been jailed for a string of offences.Christopher Clough, 48, of no fixed address, was sentenced to four years in prison after admitting one count of burglary and seven attempted burglaries.
