Tuesday, 3 June, 2025Police are appealing for information after a driver left the scene of a collision leaving behind a seriously injured passenger.The collision occurred at around 3:50am on Sunday (1 June) on Wetherby Road, Oakwood, Leeds, near to the rear car park of Roundhay Park. It involved one vehicle, a silver Audi A1, which collided with a wall.The driver, who is understood to be male, was witnessed running away from the scene leaving a female passenger behind. Monday, 2 June, 2025A motorbike rider who was seriously injured in a collision on the M62 last Thursday (29 May) has died.The 51-year-old died in hospital over the weekend. His family are aware and are being offered specialist support.A 53-year-old man was arrested last Friday on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is currently on bail. Monday, 2 June 2025Chief Superintendent Stuart Bainbridge has been announced as the new District Commander for Wakefield.  He was promoted into the position last month following a period acting up in the role having been the Detective Superintendent in Kirklees District.  The Wakefield District Commander role was previously held by Richard Close who has since been promoted to Assistant Chief Constable with responsibility for the National Police Air Service.   Find out more:

Friday 30 May 2025Police have renewed an appeal to try and find a man who was seriously assaulted in Huddersfield.The Huddersfield Town Centre Team are keen to trace the victim who was shown being attacked in Market Place in an incident which is believed to have occurred on Sunday 27 April.Officers have seen footage of the incident on social media and are keen to speak to the victim for an account of happened to help them investigate the offence.
