• Student Officer Sentenced After Being Found Guilty of Sexual Offences

    Tuesday, 3 June, 2025A West Yorkshire student police officer has been sentenced today after previously being found guilty of three counts of sexual touching.PC Charlie Valente, aged 24, was sentenced to a two year community order with 200 hours unpaid work, 90 day alcohol rehabilitation program and 20 day rehabilitation program.     Monday, 2 June 2025Chief Superintendent Stuart Bainbridge has been announced as the new District Commander for Wakefield.  He was promoted into the position last month following a period acting up in the role having been the Detective Superintendent in Kirklees District.  The Wakefield District Commander role was previously held by Richard Close who has since been promoted to Assistant Chief Constable with responsibility for the National Police Air Service.   Find out more:

    Friday 30 May 2025Police have charged a man with burglary and theft offences after a wanted appeal was issued in Bradford.  Matthew Holdsworth, aged 41 of no fixed abode has been charged with two counts of theft from shops, a burglary and two fail to appear in court warrants.  He’s been remanded into custody to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court this morning.  Officers would like to thank everyone who shared the wanted appeal.  Find out more:

  • 101 Call-Handling Data To Be Published From Today

    Thursday 29 May 2025New data shows members of the public are waiting an average of 13 seconds to reach West Yorkshire Police’s control room to report non-emergency incidents.  The 101 number is for non-emergency calls such as reporting situations which don’t require an urgent 999 response or passing information about an ongoing investigation.  From today, all police forces will publish their 101 call wait times, improving transparency and helping communities to understand how their local force is performing.   Find out more:
